Hadleigh Country Park can cater for a wide variety of different types of group ranging from scout troops to ramblers. If your group is interested in a ranger led activity please contact us. We offer a wide range of activities and are able in some cases to cater for additional activities on request. Our usual group activities are simply adapted from our education programme. There is a charge for ranger led activities depending on the activity and the number of people attending. This is to cover our costs of materials and staff time. Please note that some activities are only available at certain times of year.

Example Ranger Led Activities

Pond dipping - Best in May and June

Pond dipping is conducted from a specially built platform on one of the many dykes crossing the park's marshes. All the necessary equipment is provided and this activity allows the handling of live specimens, direct observation of the types of invertebrates and plant species that live in a freshwater ecosystem. This is a great activity for all ages and can be a very good way of learning more about freshwater ecosystems.

Kites - Spring to Autumn

If you thought that building a kite that actually flies a bit of a challenge come and try ours. They are simple to make and the method will stay with you forever. This is a great activity again for all ages. We'll supply all the equipment, all you have to do is come and enjoy your day.

Den building - Summer (dry conditions)

A great activity for everyone, building your own shelter out of whatever you can find in the woods. A highly fun and challenging activity with rangers on hand if anyone needs a little advice or help. The den building takes place in a area of wood regularly managed and assessed for safety.

Night time Wildlife Hunt - Autumn to Spring (early dusk)

Best for small groups, this is a chance to go out in the park and see what you can find. The rangers will be able to help you to find all manner of wildlife ranging from bats, to rabbits and owls. The rangers have a high powered spotlight especially to see the animals in the dark! Please note that this activity is strictly no dogs.
