Like many country parks around the UK, Hadleigh Country Park would not be the fantastic place it is without the help of the volunteer groups that work with the ranger service. The park has over 150 hectares of superb habitat to manage with just three full time staff! The park's regular volunteers and groups such as South East Essex Volunteers and Groundwork South Essex help with many of the larger jobs that need completing in the park.

The main tasks undertaken by volunteers vary from scrub removal and ride clearance to fencing and coppicing. Volunteers helped to build the Iron Age roundhouse on the site and made the new archaeological dig for the education project. Volunteer groups usually aim to start work for 10am and finish after lunch at about 3pm. Depending on the job there may even be sausages on an open fire for lunch.
